Marketing Campaign Powerpoint- The Impossible

Credits and Titles- Trial and Retribution

The credits and titles in this opening sequence are different to most where the titles are shown before the opening sequence. The action scene is shown first and then the credits and titles are shown. They are also shown whilst a sequence is going on. It works well because they have different shots all over the screen with the credits and titles in different places. The titles are white writing on a black background which are dull colours.

This title sequence follows on from what has happened in the opening sequence a lady fell from above landing on a car infront of a young boy on a bike. In the title sequence we are shown the what happens after she has fallen. This almost continues the story for the audience just quickly. We are shown her being seen to by paramedics and the detective looking around from where she fell.

Representation

In films the female and male roles of characters are represented stereotypically. Females are usually seen as helpless, weak and vunerable where as men are seen as strong, independent and masculine.

An example where men are seen as strong and women as vunerable is in James Bond: Casino Royale (2006). At the end of this film Bond tries to save the weak Vesper (Eva Green) but is unable to because she is stuck in an elevator. This shows her as vunerable and weak. This shows Bond as a strong character as he tries to save her by finally managing to recover her body and revive her which he is unable to do. In this film the typical gender roles are represented clearly.

Another part in the film where women are seen as weak and men as strong is when they have to kill the men and she breaks down about killing them in the shower. He doesn't break down and comforts her. Although this shows his soft side it also shows that he is much stronger than her because he has just killed them and got on with it.

The representation of the male and female roles is clearly seen in this movie throughout. Even though some females can be represented differently in some movies most are represented in this way and needing to be rescued by a strong man.

In our film the male role of being strong is shown through the beating up of the boy. The hoodies are also represented stereotypically through the clothing (black, dark clothes) and through the stabbing.

Editing

In Eastenders we can see that the characters are speaking to one another because of the editing style shot reverse shot. Using this editing style allows the audience to see they are having a conversation. They do this without breaking the 180 degree rule which connects the characters by keeping the camera on one side of the axis for every shot. This is also continuity editing as it flows from shot to shot.

This is a clip from the Godfather. This clip shows cross- cutting. Cross- cutting is used in order to cut between two action shots which are in different places but are happening at the same time. In this clip it is cutting between people being shot to a christening that is taking place.

Editing

After the break in at school we had to start editing our opening sequence again. Today we started re- editing which meant that we had to go through all our clips again. After naming the clips and we started inputting the clips into the sequence order. We have also had to start using new software which was very easy to pick up as it was similar to the old one.
